Frequently Asked Questions

Our Program

A coding bootcamp is a intensive training program that teaches students the skills they need to become proficient in software development. Our bootcamp is designed to give students a solid foundation in web development, including languages such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, as well as frameworks like React and NodeJS.

Our bootcamp is suitable for anyone who is interested in learning to code, regardless of their prior experience. We have had students from a variety of backgrounds, including those who have never written a line of code before, as well as those who have some programming experience and want to take their skills to the next level.

Our bootcamp is a full-time program that runs for 16 weeks.

The bootcamp is both a full-time and part-time program. Full time students should expect to spend 40 hours per week in class and on coursework whereas part-time students can complete the program at their own pace (recommend 20 hours a week). Class hours are typically from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, with breaks throughout the day.

We understand that learning to code can be challenging, so we provide a variety of support resources to help our students succeed. This includes one-on-one time with instructors, weekly progress check-ins, and a dedicated student success team. We also have a strong network of alumni and industry partners who are available to offer guidance and mentorship.

Graduates of our bootcamp have gone on to secure jobs as web developers, software engineers, founders, freelancers, and other roles in the tech industry. We provide career support to all of our students, including resume and portfolio building, interview preparation, and job search assistance. Our career team is dedicated to helping our students find the right job opportunities and succeed in their careers.

Admissions

You must be over 16 and know how to use a mouse and keyboard. The determination and willingness to learn cannot be lacking either.

To keep our classes small, we have 20 places available per month on a first-come-first-serve basis.

No way! There is no coding experience required to be successful at Melsoft Academy. Globally, coding bootcamp statistics tell us that about 50% of all students (including our Founder!) had no prior programming experience. And there is no evidence that those who already knew how to program do better than those who did not.

We offer several payment methods for our students. Please check out the pricing page for more information.

Our coding boot camp is held through our online classroom experience. Students also meet routinely at physical networking events and career support seminars.

This is a non-accredited program. At the course completion, participants receive a Certificate of Completion, plus a robust portfolio of projects to showcase their skills to potential employers. The Certificate of Completion is not a qualification recognised under the South African Qualifications Framework.
